Herd Sires

The Cranview Gelbvieh Herd Sires Philosophy – Since day one, our emphasis has been on performance. Our herd sires will express performance, stand on a strong leg and pass on economically good traits. They will exhibit the muscle and mass that people in the cattle business desire. Our bulls will carry carcass characteristics that enable seedstock & commercial producers to successfully market their stock.

VAR Whitewater
- PB Angus bull we purchased from Vollmer Angus Ranch.  This bull offers a great blend of performance and carcass to breed Balancer cattle.  We really like the power he shows along with the soft look.  An extremely docile individual to work with and his first set of calves are exactly the same.

Ellingson Prolific 3218
- PB Angus bull we purchased from Ellingson Angus.  I really appreciated the muscle and soft look the Prolific sons offered.  When you really get down to analyzing the basics, it starts with good bone and good feet.  This bull has both...he is in the top 1% for Angle and top 3% for claw when it comes to feet.  We are hopeful this translates into a solid base for us to build Balancer & Angus genetics around.

CRAN Gunner L80 ET
- 67% Balancer bull that we kept from the 2024 season.  We have some customers that like a little more frame to their cattle and we felt this guy brought a complete package to the table with performance, carcass and the added frame size.   He scored a 6.2 on frame size.

Post Rock Double Wide 103J1
- Here is an 82% Gelbvieh bull that infuses his offspring with alot of performance.  The tops are extremely wide, and the females all have a broody cow look to them.  Sometimes the numbers don't match the outcomes, and, in this case, that is exactly the case.  This bull will be long gone before we see the true impact he has on a set of cows.  If you like thick, wide topped, heavy muscled type cattle, you will like the Double Wide's.  Side note...he does throw a calf with some white every now and then.

LRSF Grand Teton K50
- We bought this 83% bull to use on our Balancer heifers.  But, as luck would have it, we purchased Double Wide about same time.  Given the calving ease Grand Teton offers, we believe he will match up perfectly with the Double Wide females.  We are seeing great performance in these calves given the fact he is a 16 for CE.  This bull offered us an animal that looked like a bull I wanted to buy and read like a bull I wanted to buy...almost all of his EPD's are in the top 50 percentile.

Woodhills Merit H224
- PB Angus Bull we purchased at Woodhills for one reason and that was the carcass value he possessed.  He remains in the top 1% of the Angus Breed for marbling and $G; but, he also scored a 10 for tenderness as well.  He has a little coarser look than I would like but mated to Balancer and higher percentage Gelbvieh animals has translated into a softer outcome with the offspring.
